we're arrived in singapore shame some of our luggage hasn't...
Hiya
Well we're nearly there, we checked our bags in and through to Singapore via Dubai and somehow we managed to be under the limit by 10K which was a huge surprise. We left Gatwick at 3.45pm after an hour and a half delay and boared the full Emirates flight to Dubai. Service was great, plenty to eat, children well entertained. We arrived at Dubai and because of the hold up at gatwick only had 45mins to walk about before we boarded the next flight. That one was a bit more tedious but again service was excellent and food plentiful. We arrived in Singapore airport by the time we got to baggage reclaim there were all our bags waiting, or so we thought. We thought we be really clever and put all our bits for singapore in one bag so that we could leave the rest of the luggage at the airport. Well imagine our delight when we quickly realised that we had all the bags apart from the one we needed. We went to the lost luggage counter they have checked the plane and it's no where to be seen. Not what you want to hear when you've been flying for 14 hours and the children are on the edge of losing it...
We have been told the bag might be on the next flight over and we won't know till 9pm tonight. If it's not then we start the claim with the airline. We managed to get a few bits for tonight from one of the other cases and are hoping it turns up. You think of what you'd need for 3 nights in Singapore and it's in there including hairdyer, hotbrush, face creams ect. All the swimwear so the idea of a refreshing dip quickly disappeared.
So here we are hoping to spend a few stressless days relaxing before we move on to Melboure feeling really stressed.
Lets hope it appears tonight or our 3 days of r + r will be spent shopping to replace our bits.
Good Luck to the rest of you leaving shortly and maybe do what we normally do and spilt your things amongst several bags. So much for us being organised.....

That's a few times on here that baggage has gone missing via dubai.
Is it a " Dubai " thing or is this common throughout ?
Sorry to hear about your luggage, hope it turns up soon.

Yes I've heard of this happening before too.
We'll keep our fingers crossed that the airline find it and reunite you soon! Try to enjoy Singapore Hx

We recently got back from a skiing holiday (well, March actually) and some of our luggage was covered in oil so we went to complain, only to find ourselves in a very long queue of people who'd flown from Brisbane via Dubai complaining that their luggage hadn't turned up. Interesting.

And British Airways.
All as bad as each other.

Maybe its the connectin factor that screws things up....we've flown SQ lots and never had a problem - apart from when connecting thru heathrow onto BA or BM to continue "up north". In fact heathrow has a perfect 50/50 record on losing our luggage (from a statistically totally unrepresentative 12 flights over 3 years!).....we gave up in the end and switched to Amsterdam - they only lose 1 in 4!!

Vivien's flying Emirates, not Singapore Airlines... Of course, we're interested in learning your experience with SQ and BA...
Anyway, Vivien, hope you'll get your bag back soon, and all the best in Melbourne.

Yes I know that.
I just think they are all as bad as each other.
It is not really the airline's fault is more the airport handling Staff.
Usually lost luggage turns up fairly quickly.
Sadly sometimes it turns up with items missing.

on 2 occasions where our luggage was missing. Both times it was because the bags were not put on the connecting flights from Heathrow to Manchester.
Never had a problem with lost luggage when arriving in Aus.
Never had a problem with flights going directly back to Manchester.
We've travelled with Emirates, BA and Qantas.
Just a case of not having the time I think, to get the bags across onto the Manchester flights at Heathrow.
To be fair to Manchester Airport the bags were delivered to our home address within a couple of hours.

I think I've had lost bags about three times. The remarkable thing is just how quickly they get found and forwarded on to you.
It costs the airlines millions in extra handling, taxis etc - and a lot of the time it's nothing to do with them but some handling company they get stuck with.
Good luck with the recovery!
