Wengarsol Highberyus
If ever there was a strange creature award this one would surely win it.
The female is pretty as a pussycat but the male is a rather grotesque, hairy beast with a distinctive and vivid red and white colouring.
He is a pack animal and once every week he meets with his fellow male clan members and takes part in a most bizarre ritual.
They gather round a large field and all make the most horrific mating call. It really is a pity evolution ran out of funds before completing the vocal chords.
Crazed from the frenzy they consume voluminous amounts of yellow nectar which is involuntarily ejected a few hours later. They then scatter in all directions making for their lair and on the way this beast has no regard for other animals territorial rights so leaves his own mark at will.
Once back at the lair he wakes the female, slobbers all over her and then falls into a deep but noisy coma until morning.
