A Mexican is generally someone from south of the border - so in Qld it usually applies to Victorians or NSW-men.
Tasmanians are often referred to as Taswegains, or as "having-two-heads"

Oh don't give me any credit, its bloody obvious. I always laugh at the people that complain that they get a hard time - if this is the case you either have a bypass somwhere or you deserve it.

My mate once had a good old jibe then told me in absolute serious how liked I was. I was pretty much - "oh sod off you goon".

I think my favourite at the moment is the when someone is accused of having "spit the dummy", usually one politician (or sportsman) claiming another has lost his rag. The nearest English phrase is "thrown his toys out of his pram", which is OK, but the Ozzie version is perfect...

Drongo is quite mild really, more like idiot or stupid than dickhead. When I was a kid a person would not blink to call someone a drongo in front of the kids (ie its not really that offensive) rather than something like dickhead. Sometimes used in an affectionate manner as well - a bit like dag.

Also agree with Polly, to an Aussie a Mexican is a Victorian - its even used on TV (in cricket commentary etc) as such.

As for the rental car story, apart from the markings on the car that usually denote it as a rental car with any of the larger rental companies, the police would have known it was a rental as soon as they looked at the number plate on DMV.
