Average of around 18-20 during the day. The sun is still strong and warming but the nights can get really quite chilly, around 5 degrees.

Thing to remember is that the houses here are all built for summer (generally single skin timber frame construction) and so it can and does get very chilly at home at night. In June the average maximum (daytime therefore) temp is 18.7 and the average min (nightime therefore) is 10. According to the Bureau of Meteorology, it has got as low as 1.6 in June. Also expect frequent rain and gusty winds.

If you've got a choice avoid June.
There are nice days - and strangely I quite like the weather.
But the houses are often shockingly built and the chances are you will be freezing at night. Which means you will have to bring the right clothing etc etc.
Come then if it's your only option otherwise wait until early Oct or come in May which was quite good last year.

the first year we were here it rained nearly the whole month of June, this past year hardly any rain. The averages on the BOM website are 16 days in the month where it might rain and 155mm of rain over the month.

If it's a reccie, June is a great time to come because you're seeing Perth with it's shortest days of sunlight and indifferent weather. Therefore, the rose tinted specs are well and truly off.
And indifferent is the only way you'd describe the weather in the sense that you could have a few rainy, blustery days, and a few sunny days where you'll be in the park in short sleeves all afternoon.
If a rare, low temperature similar to Hutch mentioned is experienced, you're usually tucked up in bed then so it's irrelevant. What matters is the fact that there won't be any time you'll be too cold in the days to do anything.
My only advice would be is to make sure your accomodation is sufficiently heated for the evenings and early mornings. Otherwise, not a problem.

We wore Tshirts, jeans and took a fleece in case the wind picked up a bit.

First thing in the morning was a nightmare too. Only had one gas fire in the room, rest of house like a fridge. I thought it was as cold as a UK winter, but only in the mornings and evenings. Through the day it was ok. I wore gloves and scarf and coat so do bring your winter stuff.
