Hi,

I enquired with an agent about relocating to Oz ( I am a 46 yr old carpenter with a wife and 2 boys 15 and 12 yrs) and was told that I was too old. We resigned ourselves to the fact that we couldn't go but I saw an ad for another agent and gave them a call. I have been told that I can still apply under an employer sponsorship visa but if we are going to go ahead we need to start things moving sooner rather than later.
I would love to hear any thoughts or opinions you may have on moving to OZ (Queensland). The last time we visited was 20 years ago so I'm sure things have changed alot. Are we likely to face the same problems we have over here regarding crime (guns, knives, drugs, youth disorder) What about options for our boys as they leave school. As a hard working carpenter would I be able to earn a good living, being able to afford decent housing, car etc.

Any replies will be much appreciated.

There are plenty of tradies jobs going all over Qld so I dont think you will have any problem in finding work.

Obviously the closer you are to cities the more expensive is the housing and as is if you are moving near to the beach.

both our boys are a similar age to yours and if they want to learn a trade there are definately tons more apprenticeoptions than there are here.
