Wanted Down under
As a newbie I just discovered this series and watched a couple of shows while having a few weeks off work, Daytime ****e I like to call it when the wife watches it :D
Anyway got me to thinking it be a good source of info for me and indeed any other people looking to emigrate, what if I could get them all on dvd but it seems there not available :(. But..... I happeend to mention it to a friend of mine and he said he will "see what he can do" ........... Lone behold he has come up with the goods all series 1-3 of WDU and the 2 series of revisited I was how we say it ower the moon anyway it never come without a price of course :s but fair play to him he will make it all look nice and shiny like a real boxset he says when he has completed it. So I have many hours of watching ahead of me to keep me going :) Regards Steve |

Re: Wanted Down under
I wouldn't recommend taking WDU too seriously. We watched it before we began the process and now we're here and settled, personally I didn't find it a very realistic representation of the emigration process or Australia itself. Was interesting to watch though. We watched a few of the Brisbane episodes a few weeks ago and spent most of the time laughing our heads off.

Re: Wanted Down under
We've been watching WDU too and are just about to set of for Brisbane (in a couple of weeks), can you recall any of the specific parts that triggered your laughter?
I'd be interested to know and I'm sure others would too. Thanks |
Re: Wanted Down under
The follow up programmes are much better as it filters out those who seemed to be going for a week free holiday v those that were serious.

Prices of houses and land for starters - usually well out of date by the time the programmes are aired.
They are also guilty of finding people (where do they get them from - there must be an agency) who can be relied on to rouse the fury of every viewer. Keep a stash of things that you can throw at the telly. |
Re: Wanted Down under
If anybody wants to see an episode of WDU or WDU Revisited that is no longer available on the BBC iPlayer site then you can go to www.thebox.bz which is a torrent site specialising in British TV programmes. You should, however, make yourself aware of your ISP's rules and your country's law with regard to downloading such content to your PC.
I think that the quality of these programmes is quite poor though and I'm sure we wouldn't even look at them if we weren't planning to go to Australia. Lateley we watch anything on TV with Australia in it though. I'll be glad when we get there so I never have to see another episode of 'Nothing to Declare' as long as I live. |

One of my mates is Nadia's cousin. |
Re: Wanted Down under
The only reason I still watch this is to see the houses (and I usually add at least 100k on to whatever price they are quoting!). The whole thing is a rose tinted view of Oz there you'll never have to work, can go to the beach every evening (erm, homework, dinner anyone??) etc but hey, it's a dose of badly needed sunshine and for those of us obsessed with watching anything Oz related, it'll do. Also check out Australia's Deadliest Destinations and Deadly Down Under on Sky 3 to put you off ever leaving the house again!:thumbsup:
