We have decided IF we can excahange contracts on the house this week and our buyer agrees to an earlier completion date we want to leave the UK for Perth in 3 weeks!!!

question is we are taking our dog how long does it take to get the paperwork sorted (I know Perth quarantine can get booked)

Any ideas??

We were told that ideally they needed a month to do the paperwork for the cat, but it could be done in three weeks.
He is only allowed to travel 14 days after his last booster, so I imagine the rules will be the same for dogs.

Have you had the dog jabbed and chipped? After you've done that, sent the deposit with his paperwork to the dog transport people, it's up to them to sort the rest out.

I would speak to the transport people you have arranged for your dog to get the clearest idea.

Do you have a pet company in mind that you want to use ?? If so contact them immediately as they need to send off for the import permit.

To do this they will require your dogs up to date vaccination card (without Lepto).

You will have to book your dog in at the vets to have his blood test and it usually takes about 10 days for the results to come back and the originals then have to be sent to the pet shippers.

Three weeks is pushing it but can be done ... the shippers will usually board the dog before his flight for you so you could extend on this if need be.

Are you sure Perth quarantine can be booked ? there was a 3 month wait not long ago, or do they have cancelation/emergency spaces ?

Bugger if theres a 3 month wait we may have to go back to our original plan of early June unless we can find someone to look after her although dont think I could be without her that long!!

Fingers crossed will ring tomorrow dont think they will be open now!!

Sorry to panic you .... the alternative if Perth is full is for your dog to go to one of the other quarantine centres, do her 30 days then they would fly her to Perth and you can collect her and take her home. This way would be more expense but only the cost of an internal flight as she would have her crate already, but still allows for you to go earlier if you have set your hearts on it.

Anyway, best to see what your shippers say first but at least you know there is a plan B if needed

Hi Kris

Just got back from the Sandown show where we spoke to 3 different pet transporters. All of them told us that the Perth quarantine centre is fully booked until the end of the first week in June! Apparently it is much smaller than the other two centres so gets booked several months in advance. Know that's not much help to you but thought I would pass the info on anyway.

Dogs have to have blood tests a month before travel too. Not sure if it can be shorter time scale.
