Default Want a cheap driving holiday, and i mean CHEAP!!?

We have a Canadian friend staying with us for a few days. He is a world traveller, who spends most of his life touring the world. He revealed a very interesting secret to me this afternoon.

If you want to have a very cheap driving holiday in Australia, all you need to do is phone one of the main touring camper companies and offer to drive one of their vehicles back to its depot.
Many people do long holiday trips, say from Sydney to Perth (or many other destinations) which means they need to get these vehicles back somehow. Our friend has told us that they will allow you to drive these vehicles back for $1 per day plus your fuel. You are given so many days to complete the journey, and are also allowed the approximate kilometres form A-B. You are only charged extra if it goes over the top. He has done this a couple of times and says it is a fantastic cheap way to see Australia.

Yes, I've heard of this before!

It's a great idea! Though you'd would be very 'dependable'(?) on time and route, so it wouldn't fit for everyone.

But definetly something to think about!

All our friend did was open the yellow pages and start calling all the companies listed. He only got to the 3rd one listed who had several options that suited him. He had a very modern vehicle with fridge, cooker and all crockery and cutlery included.
