Wages/salary rates in Oz - govt website
Hi all
I found this Oz government website - you can search for your profession and find out what average wages are, job prospects, etc
http://jobsearch.gov.au/joboutlook/default.aspx
Thought it might be helpful as people are always asking how much they can expect to earn in Oz.
I found mine and the weekly salary listed was about 8% less than what I actually earn so for me it is pretty accurate. Maybe others working here can say how accurate it is for them.
HP
p.s. you can also check employment by region (not wages but where the work is) - click on the little map of Oz once you've found your profession

Thats a great link, not only for checking wages but also availability of work in different areas. Have found that my own occupation is in demand in the area we're going to whilst demand for my husbands skills are below average. No wonder he's so keen on a pool, think his plans and mine maybe slightly different!!!

Great site. Unemployment in my sector is still "above average"; think I'll stay here a little longer where the prospects are much better...

Thanks, great link. A few quick comments:
1 What exchange rate are people using to convert $'s to £'s
2 I couldn't find any reference to lion tamers or toyboys - what are my prospects? No I meant tennis coaches which I couldn't find in the alphabetical list (at a quick glance anyway).

Not pretty I'm afraid...
You'd be better off looking for jobs in the papers as that is a pretty general category and a job with a posh tennis club would obviously pay more.

Nice one!
Just about confirms what I thought - but as long as I can pay the rent and feed the family, who cares....there's more important things in life than money as long as the sun is shining
But then again if I see any more footage of the cold, torrential rain in Sydney for mid November I may have to reassess the situation:scared:

Hey, thanks for that. I was just joking really about the lion tamers etc bit. I'm actually OK for work as a tennis coach or a teacher when we go back because of my contacts but I was really interested to look at the employment situation etc for some occupations on the website.
Over and out from Aussie in Scotland to Aussie in London - oi, oi, oi for Saturday
