Hi Nicky, My hubby sent the first lot of paperwork off to the RAN in march 2004, thats prob the stage you are at now, if they are interested they will send out an application pack, it took 2/3 months for that to arrive so you would be looking at hearing something mid June onwards.
The RAN have looked after us really well and so far its been good. We are south of Melbourne at the moment but are moving to Perth in July. Hubby doing some courses there and will prob join a ship next year (payback time). Not looking forward to that but hey like you said, i coped with it for over 20 yrs so I'm sure i can cope with one more ship. Its good that we are together for the first year or so and we are getting to see places in Oz before he leaves the RAN and we decide where to settle.
Its a big decision to go down this route, i suppose we wernt brave enough to come to Oz without the security of job, somewhere to live etc.
My hubby was a CPOWEA in the RN by the way. I've sent you a pm with myemail address.
