Run away! RUN AWAY FAST!!!

I had an awful experience with them; house originally intended to cost only $112,000 ended up blowing out to $125,000. Salesman was nice at first, but increasingly pushy; settlement dragged on for months, and would have cost me about $2,000 in late settlement penalties.
Took advice from my settlement agent who reviewed the contract and realised that it was illegal. (He hadn't seen it before, as he was only dealing with the land sale, which was being handled through a different company.) :scared:
Pulled out of the deal, losing only $1000 in the process (could have been a LOT more, but I was lucky) and received an obscene and highly abusive call from the salesman who'd originally set up the contract - which I reported to the police and the WA Housing Centre (who told me that he didn't work for them anymore.)

Commodore Homes went on to become entangled in a number of legal battles after illegally inflating the price of their building contracts following the introduction of the GST.
I guess if I was Arkon, this story would have a sad and catastrophic ending.
Fortunately I'm not, so it doesn't.

Clickable links to news reports on the dodgy behaviour of Commodore Homes:
$880,000 - oooh, that's gotta hurt!
The guy who started it off was a plucky young bloke who'd basically sunk his life savings into a new house, and refused to be intimidated by a big company. The newspapers loved him, and so did just about everyone else in WA - except Commodore Homes, of course!
- ACCC institutes court action alleging Commodore Homes (WA) Pty Ltd misled homebuyers about the GST.
- Commodore Homes (WA) Pty Ltd refund $880,000 to new home buyers.
