Team,
Returning to the UK for the first time in 13 years in July, after three years in the Cayman Islands, about ten in Cairns, and the last five on the Gold Coast. I’m pretty exited, I think it will be quite surreal returning to our old stomping grounds (Edinburgh / Scotland).
Anyway, just wondering how everyone takes spending money back? Obviously we don’t want to take cash, and we don’t want to use credit card because of the fees, so what does everyone do? We bank with ING.
anyvtips would be appreciated!

Failing that there are preloaded cards you can get, they work like a credit card, but you load them in advance with whatever currency you want to use at your destination, and then just use that money like you would the balance on a visa card. Ii think Aus Post do one.

Get a credit card and debit card which do not have transaction fees - like Capitalone.
We always carry some cash for taxis, snacks/coffees

I don't suppose you still have a UK bank account that you could transfer to? That's what I did over the last 20 years.

If using your bank, you'll just need details of receiving bank I think.
I have account with OFX (forex company and they have details of my bank accounts already.
Lots of people use Wise, which is similar, so worth checking out.
You'll likely get a better exchange rate with the forex companies than your bank - some do fee free particularly for a first transfer

If you have a UK account, yes.
I've been moving money on a regular basis, for bills, holidays, gifts etc for over 20 years. I use a company called OFX. Money goes from my Aus account to their Aus acccunt, they convert it to pounds in their UK account, then pay it to my UK account. Usually takes around 24 hours.
Very helpful customer services too.
