Hi peeps, just joined the forum having returned from a 7 week touring holiday in Australia and desperate to get back there within the next 2 years but we're not sure on the immigration rules regards pets. We'd like to go for a year first, probably on a working/holiday visa, to see if we would settle....we're 95% sure we would...and then make a permanent move fairly soon after that. I am a carpenter and Rach is a nurse and midwife so work would be easy to find. Does anyone know if we would be allowed to take our 2 cats with us for that year or are pets only allowed on permanent visas? It was hard enough leaving them for 7 weeks and we had a cat knocked down and killed in that time so we don't want to leave them again.
Any advice would be great
cheers

Bear in mind the quarantine regs for coming into the UK are a lot stricter and longer than one month if you're looking to come back here after the year.

Not always, Australia is in the PETS scheme so if you think about it in advance and get all the rabies vaccinations and blood tests you cna bring them back on a pet passport.
