Default Visa Validation Trip

I will be visiting Perth & Adelaide for 3 days each in March, and Brisbane for 9 days. Could I have all your recommendations for things to see and do in these areas.

Cant wait now.

hi cybie

We visited Perth for 5 days and Adelaide for 6 days in March/April.

Adelaide:

Glenelg beach, tram to city from Glenelg and back, free tourist hopon/off buses in city, festival centre and walk along river, Adelaide casino, marion/noarlunga shopping centre, kangaroo/koala park/reserve - if you've got kids be aware that this park won't let you always hold koalas - it depends which ones are being shown and which are stressed out!!! Lovely place tho'.

You could also drive south to Seaford and beyond to take a look at the Fleurieu Peneninsula and the wineries. The surf is supposed to be good down there but it was rubbish the day we went. Don't use the Southern Expressway in rush hour.

Perth:

We stayed at Hillarys Harbour and did not get into central Perth(ran out of time) - saw it from King's Park on way to airport. A friend said there is hop on/off tram in Perth - don't know how much. Hillary's has got a water slide park, trampolines etc. Kings' Park has got good restaurants. Day trip to Fremantle. Trigg Beach for surfing. Koala Park up in hills is a bit run down and shabby. You can hold koalas but there is a minimum height for doing so. Ranger uses discretion so if they think kids are well behaved they will let hold koala even if under height limit. We often drove up and down the Ocean Road just to look at the wonderful ocean. Visit Peppermint Grove near Cottesloe to see the massive houses/mansions and dream on. Cottesloe Beach is nice - I think there is a big p*** up every Sunday there.

Good luck with your trip

Suzy

Hi Cybie,
Haven't been to Perth or Adelaide but have been to Brisbane.
Try the following:
Australia Zoo,
Noosa/Moloolooba area,
Gold Coast Theme Parks (Dreamworld, Seaworld etc),
Tamborine Mountain,
Moreton Island,
Currumbin Wildlife Park,
Southbank.

Hope this helps
Julie

Lightbulb Re: Visa Validation Trip

hiya,

I only really know about perth as i spent a month there last year, if you get the chance you really should get to the Zoo, its absoloutely brilliant! we stayed in Rockingham and the beach there has loads of bbq's along them so its pretty cool to spend the day at the beach then bbq in the evening.
I saw that someone had already mentioned freemantle, if you can get there on a sunday thats pretty cool as they have a good market there where you can buy all sorts, i bought some 18ct gold Kangaroo earstuds which worked out pretty cheap.

Regardless of what you do in perth, you'll have a pukka time!

hi, p osted earlier, forget to mention freemantle jail, it was by far one ofthe best days out we had. you get a guided tour around the jail ( which is no longer in use) and even get to see where they used to hang the inmates.

can't say enough good stuff about it!!

Do a day trip to Rottnest Island off Perth - and yes the Sunday Session in 'The Cott' (esloe Beach Hotel) is legendary amongst the surf types (even though there aint much surf at Cott).......it's a bit spit and sawdust but all good fun..the older crowd go to the other hotel just up the road.

When you get to Brisbane see if you can get a trip to Tangalooma (one of moreton islands) if you stay overnight you will see the Dolphins come in to be fed and you can also feed them. It is a fantastic experience.
