Visa App with a child with Special Needs?
Hi I've just joined Expats and was wondering if anyone out there has any experience of a visa application with a child with mild learning difficulties? We have just found out that our son has not met with the Australian standards on his medical. We haven't had the official letter yet, only email, the report is coming via ordinary mail. As he has no physical medical problems so we assume that it is because he attends a 'Special School' in the UK. We do not have a 'label' for his problem only that he has delayed language skills (approx two years behind). He has a full Statement of Special Educational Needs and up until September 2004 attended mainstream school with this in place. We decided to send him to a Special School so that he would have a specialist Speech & Language Therapist implimenting his program. I now think this may have gone against us when it appreared on the medical?
The SA Government have agreed to sponsor us. I am a Graphics Pre Press Operator and my husband is a Construction Manager. We have 3 boys aged 16, 14 and 10.
Any information regarding my sons special needs would be welccome?
Or if anyone has had a similar problem and gone on to appeal?
Tanya
