Loads of flag waving and chanting soon desended into a drunken rampage where people of other races were set upon and beaten just for being in the street if the TV reports are correct, mass violence and as the previous photos show not much to make anyone proud of being australian
just a pack of drunken yobs really, unfortunaltely about 5000 of them.Latest update on news is they are now torching cars.
The history goes back further with claims of gang style abuse on the beaches for a while now. There was a couple of other threads on it earlier.

What is scary is 5000 people were involved, does that mean 5000 people are really that racist, or by the looks on the face of the crowd, laughing, chanting , singing the national anthem
while smashing up cars, property and innocent bystanders were just total bloody drunken yobs.

the reporting style seems to be just type what they heard........they certainly report it how they saw it (or so we are led to beleive) and dont pull any punches when quoting people.
sad really........it must have been quite scary for any little kids in the area.

This sort of thing has happened for ages out West. It's only because it has happened on a Sydney beach, even though not a particularly nice one that it is so newsworthy. Can you imagine if it had happened in Bondi or Coogee?
Sounds like RentaCrowd from the West getting on a train out to cause trouble as Nicky says.

A sad day for Australia.
Sad for me too, when my wife, half Hispanic, asked me several times last night, "Do you think I could be targetted? What about our baby?" She was actually frightened, after seeing white girls attack a middle-eastern or mediterranean girl on TV (called 'Wogs' here...nice).
