In simple terms, will a UK video recorder work in Australia with an Australian TV? It does not seem to at the moment.

Also, our Australian DVD does not seem to want to play our UK DVDs. Why is that?

A uk video recorder won't work for the same reasons that a uk tv won't work. We brought ours and just use it with a portable tv for the kids videos. The australian dvd will only play dvds from a certain region (the dvds have a code on the back) It is possible to 'reprogramme' the dvd player so it is multiregion. If you find the relevant code from the internet then put in region 9, it will play any. Can't remember the website, but try a search on dvd hacks.
