Default Validating Xmas - some pressie advice please

Hi,

We're travelling Dec 17th to Noosa to validate visas, will spend 2 weeks there and then head up to Port Douglas for another week. Have 3 daughters 15, 12 & 10 and am trying to work out what to get them for Xmas that I can either carry with me or purchase easily in Oz. Smallest has been told Santa will leave her big present at home for when she gets back and she's happy with this. We've told the 3 of them not to expect too much this year as holiday is enough of a present for any-one but of course I do have to have a few stocking fillers.

Question 1 - is it easy enough to pick up relatively cheap jewellry with an Oz theme, something like 9ct gold necklaces/bracelets with kangaroos or boomerangs (or similar).

Question 2 - for anyone with daughters! Are the Bratz dolls big in Oz? Can they be got easily enough in department stores or toy shops? Little one loves them.

If anyone can recommend where I should be looking that would be great - I do have a few days before Christmas to find some things but if I knew where to look it would help!

many thanks

Very easy. Especially at the Airport... but at any tourist shop you will usually find these as well.

Never heard of them, but I just heard that Australia will shortly be getting their first shipment of Cabbage Patch Kids...

With 3 girls, the options will be endless. Lots of unique Aussie jewellery, trendy surfie clothes and things. If Santa is leaving a present for them in the UK, then they really should bring something back that is genuinely Australian. Don't worry - there will be plenty of stuff. Give each girl AUD$30 and let them choose something special for their sister for Christmas.

How about giving them experiences instead of physical stuff? Like for instance near Noosa you can do camel riding, or maybe get them a surfing lesson, you get my drift. Get a voucher or write one yourself and put it in an envelope for them.

Enjoy.

Buzzy.

Great idea. If you make it a 'mystery' present ie. without voucher (because it is difficult to organise) then get some evidence... eg photo on the camel as proof. The commercialism of Christmas gives kids expectations of getting something they can hold or eat.

On a side note, Christmas on the beach is great. On Christmas day you have cold salads and turkey sandwiches. If there is a BBQ then you can grill seafood... and everyone is happy, infact the kids will probably make hundreds of friends with other kids at the beach.

Australia is just as BRATZ mad as the rest of the world!! Check out Target and you will find BRATZ Themed aisles in the toys dept

Also, very easy to find Aussie themed Jewellry

Your girls will have a fab Christmas!

Thanks everyone for some fab advice and also for reassuring me that I can get the things I want! Love the voucher idea - we had been thinking about hot air ballooning so that might be an option.

Now can't wait to get there, can't believe its less then 6 weeks away. Its a relief to be doing something different this year - most family are not expecting much from us this year so very little shopping, no cooking Xmas dinner, no buying loads of junk for weeks in advance Bliss

I agree with the surf clothing - I bring it back for my nieces they love the Roxy clothing, and it's not surprising as it's very appealing.
