Default Validating a Visa

If you cant sell your house in time, can you nip over to Australia and get your visa validated then return until your house sells?

My visa will be a Skilled Sponsored 138

Thanks

simple answer is yes!! you have a year to validate (or in some cases 6 months) but that doesnt mean you have to live there, a lot of people go for a holiday then come - less stressful!

good luck

So that means once you have validated your visa then there is no timeframe for you to actually have to live there permanently?

That takes the pressure off.

I remember watching that program, 'No going Back' and a couple called the Elliots left Sydney to go back because the wife was home sick: Anyway the narator on the program said that as long as they returned within 5 years they would be okay?

When you get your visa it is valid for about 4/5 years. However if you don;t go on to get citizenship you would need to get a resident return visa if leaving Australia on holiday. They usually require you to have been resident for 2 years to get one and prove that you are intent on settling in Australia. i.e. if you only go finally on the 4/5 year mark you will struggle to get a resident return visa if you needed to come back to the uk for any reason.

Hi Stephen

We are doing exactly this next Thursday(flying to Sydney to validate), although we have sold now and will return to Australia in late Feb/early March.

Good Luck
