Default Up date

Hi there, havent been online very much lately so i thought id give you guys an update on what stage were at
We have the contracts signed on our house now,and its looking like we ll be moving out in just a few weeks all being well,so i ve been frantically getting rid of all the stuff we dont want to take, selling to anyone that will buy, lol,i should have shares on ebay by now and my customers have taken alot off my hands to doing a car boot sale on sunday....so sun please shine....
We ve had shippers in all week giving us quotes and ive got th last one coming this morning, then we ll make a decision which one,pss seem the best so far but we have crown coming today.
Havent booked any flights yet,we re reluctant to until the contracts on the house are complete, just in case, but once they are gary will hand in his notice at work and we will look to book flights,we want to have a holiday half way,and were thinking of singapour, hong kong or malaysia, can anyonre recommend anywhere?any input will be gratefully recieved.
Of course we will be having a leaving party, and we will organise that once we have a date,so im hopeing some of my expat friends will come along, and if anyone we havent met wants to come along and meet others they ll be welcome also, the more the merrier.

Hi Tracey. It is looking good for you three! It is our first car boot of the year this Sunday too. The weather forecast is fine and best of all my MIL and partner have agreed to go with Sam so I don't have to get up at 6am.

We have our first new viewer on Sunday for 2 weeks but 2 of the 3 that have been around twice are both still interested, apparently, but are still putting their houses on the market.

Singapore is an excellent place to visit but you will probably see it all in 3 full days. You could always do a beach holiday on Sentosa Island though to make it last. There are some photos on here:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/iain_sa.../Singapore.htm

We are planning on having a few days in Dubai when we head out as it is a totally new part of the world to us. I get on well with a colleague in Dubai and hope he may show us around. (That is assuming Marconi is still going by then )

See you next weekend and we will be up for that leaving party I am sure.

Why do you need a holiday? You will be on holiday for the rest of your life (Sam thinks so anyway)

Kerry could always hang out with Maryann. She gets more like a teenager every day (she is still 7 until July). A few weeks ago she said she couldn't wear some shorts as they made her bum look big!

Hiya Hun

Wow - exciting times huh?

Well when we have been to Aus before we have been to Singapore too, but my sister in law is from KL in Malaysia & says we have to visit there too! If you are talking about about a couple of weeks holidays on the way to Aus, have you considered a few days in Singapore & then maybe a week in Bali? We went there in 2003 & it was fabulour. We stayed at Batubelig, in Seminyak. It was gorgeous.......

Singapore is a great place to visit but as Worzel says, don't think you will get to see it all in 3 days if you are just thinking about a stopover so it would be worth doing your homework about what things you would like to see when you are there.

When we finally get to be in your position, we think we are going to take 3/4 wks to get to Aus. We would like to spend a few days in Dubai & spend time with my stepdad there as hw orks between Dubai & PK, then we would like to visit the inlaws in Malaysia, then we woud like to go & visit our friends in Bali.... We figured that we may as well do it this way as once in Australia we probably won't be able to afford it! LOL

Happy times are ahead Tracey & Gary - wow I am soo excited for you guys!

Claire

Try for one of the islands off the east coast of Malaysia. They are great for relaxing. That will certainly get you out of last minute rushing around mode.

Hey scissors, what`s your ebay nick and I`ll have a look at the stuff you`re selling.

As for stopover, Singapore is great, and 4 or 5 days is enough there. It ain`t as cheap or as beautiful as Malaysia though. We`ve done Singapore, so this time we`re stopping off at Langkawi and Kuala Lumpur. Both at really nice places (resort near the beach/forest and a 5-star hotel near the centre).... and it`s bloody cheap. We booked flights and accom. through Malaysian Air and for 2 weeks in Malaysia the accom (inc breakfast and airport transfers) is only about £400. Still can`t believe it. Langkawi is a secluded tropical island... not very commercialised, and KL is the capital on the mainland. If you want links just say so.
Cheapest place to stay in Singapore is in the red light district of Joo-Chiat (spelling???)... decent hotels there, close enough to the railway (excellent system).

All depends what kind of break you want.

Hi Tracey. Thought you'd been quiet for a while

So much for end of June huh? Good to hear things going roughly to plan though and keeping my fingers crossed for you it stays that way.

I have absolutely no idea about holiday spots for you either! Just wanted to say good luck

Hi Scissors,

Where abouts in Brisbane are you heading? We're just awaiting the pcc and med call, have the house on the market, had 17 viewings in 2 weeks but no offers yet . We have a de-cluttering weekend ahead of us, and perhaps a car booty if we get that far .

hi tracey
We are flying out on the 28th June with singapore airlines, we are stopping over for three days in singapore at the Carlton hotel. We booked it though the airlines as they do a stopover deals and you also get vouchers for free attraction and discount off different things like food etc.We had a one night stop over in November but it wasnt enough we were so tired that we didnt get to see much at all.
Good luck with your house sale we havent sold ours yet but we had two viewers tonight and both are very interested and one has already put an offer in as she came round a few weeks ago so we are keeping our fingers crossed!
keep in touch

Yo scissors,

we booked through Malaysian as they get discounts from the hotels.... this place is £17 pp per night (first night) going down to £13 pn every night after that (inc breakfast).

Then we`ll be at the Crown Princess Hotel (5*) in Kuala Lumpur, which is something like £19 pp the first night, and £11 every other night (inc breakfast).
http://www.kl-hotels.com/crownprincess/

We don`t have to worry about transfers from airport to hotel and back either... all included.

Only caveat is that Malaysia have seperate days for direct flights to Langkawi, and seperate days for direct flights to Penang (if you wanted a more commericalised touristy version of Langkawi). ie our flight to Langkawi direct is on a wednesday (I think the other day is saturday). Oh, also Langkawi is a duty-free island.
