Does anyone know if a UK SC clearance is of any use in Australia? Will it be recognised in any way by the DoD?

What is SC clearance? Only asking cause I currently work in a bank and have to employ people and follow through with reference clearance and I do not know the intials.

Unless things have drastically changed all current and prospective employees will have checks done by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and/or ASIO- the Austrailan Security Intelligence Organisation, regardless of where you have previous security clearences from.

As he says mate. Basically it doesn't count for much here.

I doubt your SC checks will be worth much as I have CTC Clearance, which is one level up from SC and two up from BC. My CTC isn't recognisable in Australia and is only valid in the UK for 2 years. Mine runs out in November 2006, and as I will be in Oz by then, it definately won't count for anything.

But ASIO can easily do a background check on someone from the UK if they wish. By all accounts they have good relations with their British counterparts.

Nope it won't be worth anything beyond showing that you have worked in that type of environment before, if that is the type of work that you are looking for. Hubby has clearance in the UK and had clearance with NATO but it all means nothing here; the security clearance procedure for non-citizens is painful at best so it is just a case of taking the added form filling and irritation whilst waiting for citizenship.
