Just curious if anyone has applied for a UK passport here is OZ recently and if so how long it took?

Was told at the post office 6 weeks! and the website says both 14 days and 3 weeks!

So anyone applied lately via the post office and got it back in the 2 weeks?

Canno remember but not long but we downloaded the applications and sent to Canberra ourselves.

Not done in Canberra any more, apparently they are sent to NZ and I would go with the website - they may mean 14 working days which would be closer to the 3 weeks. If you get it back in 3 weeks they will be doing well - they have "bulges" of demand and at one time last year they were up over the 6 weeks which was causing considerable concern to many. It may be that they are still getting the process ironed out and if the PO says 6 weeks then they are hedging their bets probably. Can you accommodate the 6 weeks or are they urgent?

it's kind of urgent, need it back for the 23rd of this month. I've written that on the application but probably won't mean anything.

Will just need to wait and see how it goes

My daughter is renewing hers and she is to lodge at the post office and have to be very careful with the photos. OH renewed his Aussie one recently and he had a bad time with the photos, even the ones the PO did were no good. Finally after having them done about four times they were satisfied. So my daughter is going to one of the photographers recommended for renewal of her British passport.

Good idea! We did that for the son and gd recently and had no trouble.
