Just a job, or a decent bank balance
And of course, NO bad credit rating in Australia. We don't have Good ratings here, just records of bad Australian ones.

But then, with more recent Brits here now, you may come across people who do ?
I've just had a letter from my Letting agent, and they say: quote: " All references have been fully checked, and the Tenancy Information Centre has advised there is no bad history"
Now I knew that, as the tenants only arrived in the country a few weeks ago, so they have no history here. I also doubt very much that any references were checked. They viewed the property on 21/12, moved in on 23/12, and the above mentioned letter was dated 29/12. Not much time to check overseas references

Just a thought, I have been checking the threads and I am still not sure of one thing....if we had a bad credit rating here in UK, does it follow us to Oz? Does anyone have any thoughts??

Although the UK history is not generally asked for or recognised here some rental agents will accept information to show to the landlord.
So you may have a bad UK rating but maybe you can give him something that shows you in a good light like a regular mortgage payment.

Cheers 4 the reply...luckily we don't have a bad credit and as far as getting the mortagage is concerned, that's all ok too. We also have friends who have houses we can rent, so that's cool too.
I was more intregged than anything.... as i was discussing this with hubbie and some relatives who are also coming over...we have heard it being done before...but even though it may sound fine for some people, I don't fancy the hassle and guilty conscience.
