Alan,

if you cannot claim child benefit if you leave the country (which is understandable) but as a PR you can claim Family Tax Benefit - Part A. what is the score if you are on a Temporary Visa i.e a 457???? Does this mean you get shafted from both sides??

Surely there must be one avenue that doesn't discriminate against the 'poor old' temp visa holder?

thanks

Paul

No Child Allowance for Temp Visas - again as stated UK Residents only. But you can apply through your employer for the Living Away from Home Allowance - no Tax on up to 2000 dollars a month - better than a poke in the eye with a big stick. There are details on this in other threads - search on LAFHA.
