the programme was a bit of a let down, it would have been good to see both sides. they didn't show a full picture of their lives in oz in comparison to the uk. the programme seems a bit bias to bringing them back home. especially having their families there for a welcome home party. i would have been more interested in seeing how they spend their lives in oz at work and at home. looking at schooling for their children compared to the uk.

anyway the bloke in this tv programme was beyond belief, i only normally throw insults at the television when it is aimed at politicians. what a lazy good for nothing, not prepared to work just to moan.

Totally agree with you.

one thing we did notice was that lager was loads more expensive:eek: personally, i don't drink it, but OH does and has visions of chillin round the pool with a cool beer:rofl:
. We looked at Dan Murphys liquor in qld, oh my god!! it was pricey -can't remember how much exactly.
However, i drink white wine and sparkling wine and that was cheapy cheapy. a bottle of wolf blass??? was about 2.30:thumbup: and in general, aussie wine was cheap:thumbup: that may be a bad thing though:eek::rofl:

I know its edited for tv but he was sooooooo negative. Really felt for her, she didnt want to come back. Wonder if they'll last a few months in Uk then split up, or go back!

I dont understand why he wouldnt pay the $500 for the license and a better paid job:confused:

Catherine Gee definately seemed to want them to come back

Im going against the grain here.. yes he whinged, and yes a bit silly not just paying the money to transfer his qualification...but
i thought she was equally as stubborn and didnt really show alot to back up why she prefered oz apart from the fact that she was only willing to work 3 days a week? ( admittedly the program didnt show what their life was like in aus, apart from the fact that they have a house with a pool)
To me a partnership is about compromise, and i think he was more unhappy in aus than she would be in the uk? ( unless, god forbid she HAD to work 4 WHOLE days a week!)
Shame the didnt really show any of melbourne or their life there.
Am going to hide behind the sofa now in anticipation of being shouted at :D

I agree. They both didn't seem enthusiastic about anything but antagonising each other. It was a programme that didn't serve any purpose. They started unhappy and ended unhappy. Just sad.

sorry.... i just didn't get their figures.... what kind of job pays enough for a £1100 per month + mortgage as well as house insurance, redundancy insurance, poll tax, gas, leccy, food, etc etc etc....

we have £350 per month mortgage and still both of us have to work full time ... The idea of a whole salary going out on just mortgage scares the crap out of me...

Re: TV alert ITV

Didnt they say though that the mortgage would be the same as they were paying in aus?
I guess it all comes down to why u want to move to aus..... bigger house with a pool... that would do me :D but would it be worth missing my family and friends for?
I want to move from the uk for a less stressful life, to see people smile once in a while, to say hi to somene in the street and to not have them look at me like im on day release from the local sanatactury! :D ( im not....honestly ;) )
I feel for them i think in giving her the final decision he showed that her happiness was more impotant than his.... maybe im just a romantic :D

I aggree.
Me and my wife have aggreed it is a joint decision. If you are unhappy about returning to the U.K it has to be easier in many ways as you are familiar with it and it is where you come from so will find elements that make you happy.

I think they were both a bit mixed up and unfortunately got the cameras involved. It was the wee girl I felt for. Stuck in the middle and being the mediator.
