I've stuck with an identification scheme which I think originated with the ITU. But the spec numbers are really what counts. Australia uses 7 MHz for both VHF and UHF channels which, like you say , is not the same as in other countries. I've seen it referred to as PAL B in both bands, but sometimes it is refered to as PAL G in UHF evn though it's not 8 MHz. So there's room to move on the naming. Provided the receiver can receive VHF and UHF, and is not locked into set channel tunings for a particular country, those with a PAL B/G should work ok. Probably a bit academic anyway because set top boxes are the future :) . . |

Crikey - that was like sitting in on The International Congress on TV/DVD Technical Specifications. Think I understood some of it. Thanks for all your info guys. Karma all around.
I think we'll take both and see what happens. They're included in the shipping quote and we'd only just stick them up in the loft so we'll take them, get a top box and see what happens. Cheers again Matt |
