I've always used Atlas Direct, never actually had to use them but they seem to offer good cover at good prices.
You can select the level of cover and term you want as well.

Yes you'll need special one way emigrating insurance.

Try Direct Travel Insurance. (www.direct-travel.co.uk) You'll need to phone them as it doesn't mention emigration one way travel insurance on their website but they do do it. We're using them, very good. £26 for 2 adults and 2 children

The Postoffice's insurance covers emigration. It costs £26 for a family of four for 3 days.

Taken from their web site:-

One-Way Cover
This insurance is designed to cover a round trip which starts and finishes at your home in the United Kingdom. It will also provide cover for one-way trips of up to a maximum of 17 days duration, for the purpose of emigration only. The insurance will be restricted to the cover and conditions that would have applied if you had arranged to return to the United Kingdom at the end of the period of insurance.
Hope this helps,

Stuart

we have annual insurance and they said they would cover us for the first 30 days then we would need to cancel as they don't cover us after that. we would then get a refund on the un-used part of the policy.
