Hi all

Does anyone know if the money gained from house sale in UK needs to be transferred to OZ before you leave the UK?

Also, if it can be transfered after you move is there any time scale before the Oz tax man takes his share.

Capital gains incurred before you become Australian tax resident are not normally taxable in Australia.

There is no capital transfer tax. The only tax issue that might arise is a capital gain on the funds left in the UK if the exchange rate changes between when you become tax resident and when you move the funds.
