My hubby is a qualified aircraft engineer and also a qualified train driver/instructor driver, I work in HR both in the UK. Any advice for opportunities/vacancies in Oz would be appreciated.

Many mining companies: Rio, BHP, FMG employ train drivers - and pay them well. There is a push now to go towards driverless trains - Rio are working on this - as they are highly automated and the train drivers union tends to be a bit militant.

Most cities have metro rail systems, although the pay will be nowhere near as good as mining. Melbourne and Sydney are expanding their rail networks.

Rio and FMG up here in the mines employ train drivers (Karratha & Port Hedland) (Iron Ore) they are called Koala Bears because every creature comfort is catered for lol. Driverless trains wont happen for a long time according to my OH who works for them, the idea has been put on hold, prob due to the unions lol.
