If you carry goods on board that are worth $300 or more and are on one invoice in the name of the traveller then you can get the GST back from customs.

I think this carry goods on board bit is worth stressing, as you actually need to show the goods at the tax reclaim office, its no good if they're in your checked-in baggage.
