To those in Australia: what are the top three things you miss most about Britain? Also what are the top three things you don't miss and are glad to have left behind?

Talking Re: Top 3 things you miss/ don't miss

Miss:

1. Extended family & friends and being able to 'drop in' for a cuppa without anyone having to refer to diaries and social planners!
2. Changes in weather & the distinctive flora and fauna each season brings
3. Gobsmackingly witty, intelligent humour and cheery chats with complete strangers
3.(a) decent sausages, bacon, black pud, hazelnut yoghurt, curries, beer etc

Don't miss:
1. kids hanging around on street corners
2. people smoking everywhere; overuse of bad language
3. dissapearance of British/local culture due to out-of-control immigration which our 'politically correct' govt's seem unable to cope with.
3(a) Prices so high that it's impossible to take the family out for a day without first approaching the bank for a loan.

I would agree with this since our return to the UK, these are the things I would miss going back.

I know kids hang round on street corners in Australia, here I have noticed they roam in packs. I suppose in Australia they would hang at the beach.

Also would not miss

PESSIMISTIC POMS!!!! undefined:scared:

As a rule I try not to generalise but the outlook of those in the UK, or should I say northern England where I live is just beyond me.

Most that I know have a excellent lifestyle, disposable income (unlike us - hehe), but so bloody dower it is not funny and starting to get on my nerves. I now know why we get a reputation as Whinging Poms!!!

Is it the sun that makes those in Aussie brighter??

Pass the Prozac!!

Default Re: Top 3 things you miss/ don't miss

What I miss...

1. Cobbled streets and crooked little houses
2. Green grass
3. The thought I could pop to Paris for lunch, or Amsterdam for the weekend.

What I dont miss....

1. Adding minimum half an hour to every journey because of traffic
2. Narrow streets that people park on both sides of.
3. Expressionless people
(I could actually go on for ages on the list that I dont miss...)
