Well that's us in the big TW....arrived on Saturday the 6th, still in temporary accommodation but should be moving to Kearneys Spring next week, so far, so good.

I created this little group on Facebook for us all to keep in touch, it might be useful, it might not....let's give it a whirl and see?!

If ur on Facebook then I created a group on there called 'British Expats in Toowoomba' - that's a good place to start, let me know what your name is so I can approve you to join the group! What's bringing you to this area of all places?

Re: Toowoomba anyone????

Hiya,

In August2009, after graduating form uni an having a summer job, I thought do the ususal work/travel visa in Aus for a year, I was never interested in Aus before, but saw a nannying job online which looked quite good, I had some time and cash I just wanted to spend on work/travelling for myself, befoere the whole rat race career.

I was supposed to be employed for a couple and their four beautiful children, but she asked me, if possible, could I work for her cousin; he had recently lost his wife, was a full time farmer out of Warwick, and the boys were 1+3 so needed alot of attention/help. It has been harder for him to find a nanny, barely being able to turn a PC on, and his circumstances like single man, living middle of nowhere, weren't favourable apparently (lol) well I didn't mind, so I worked there from Sep-March, fell inlove with the family, friends and the country in general.

I find the skills that I have in Computer Science and Mgmt quite saturated back here in UK, and there is so much potential to develop and be a part of the process in terms of IT in the Darling Downs. The likelihood of my finding a job very near the boys is small, but Toowoomba, which I have been to a few times, many more opportunities, so yeh that is my story.

I'm just starting the application process to get back out there now, Business Sponsored or trying for a Second Year Holiday Visa. My sister would lvoet o visit for up to a year so we will probably be based in the Toowoomba area from September,

Thanks for reading:) x
