Told dad!

I figured seeing as we are now officially up for sale I better let my dad know our intentions, he grunted and said he wouldn't visit! My brother told him to use his airmiles up, and even that did not cheer him up.
Well thats one parent done, mother is the bad one, not telling her until we have plane tickets in hand.
Oh well, sod em I say..... Offer them a good holiday and get turned down.......
Parents who would have them???????
I'm waiting for the emotional blackmail now.

I'm in the same position jen
I tell my folks TONIGHT!!!! :scared:
They fly in from Spain this afternoon the brother and sister will be their also so I thought it would be a good time with them all being together.
Broke the news to the other halfs family back in Oz at the weekend and they were very excited we had chosen Oz to set up home.
Wish me luck.
And if I dont log on tomorrow i've probably thrown myself off Trent Bridge.

I find this the hardest part. T
here is enough stress with the immigration process.
My family are dead against us going, the only one that is all for it is my older, much wiser brother. He informed me last night that my father has stated that all my problems, (high blood pressure and stress) are due to the fact that I am being selfish, moving away and leaving him behind. We have invited him to stay with us for 6 months at a time, but he has stated he cant afford the air fare(even though we have offerred to meet him halfway).
Funny that, he can afford to go to the pub and have a couple of bets EVERY day!!!!

Telling my Mum will be bad enough, but when I tell my Dad, I think I'll stand near the front door with someone waiting with a fast car outside.
Joking aside, I'm bloody deading telling them.

Ouch, please tell me you have never been to Scunthorpe, and you are just being stereotypical. Sunny Scun has made giant strides over the last few years.
Still, guess we did leave for even sunnier times in Bris.

Parents who are not so supportive when telling them of emigrating are usually like that cos they love you and know they'll miss you.
Not always the case, I guess. Some parents are just mean, no matter what.
If they don't offer support, it's a failing on their part.
I've told my parents of the intention to move to Melbourne. They were a little upset (cos they've already lost a daughter to Melbourne), but they are also supportive and happy for my wife and I.
We still haven't told the wife's side of the family yet. We will probably wait till be put our house on the market in a couple of weeks or so.
*gulp*
I'm sure they'll be very supportive.....I hope.
