Default Tips with Removal Companies AUS

Hi All,

We are just in the process of getting quotes for removals, have got some good advice from previous threads on which companies to try / avoid.

I was just looking for some advice on any unobvious questions I should be making sure I ask. Any hidden charges or clauses I should be wary of?

Thank you in advance

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

We have just spoken today to Whites at Leeds about there quote, it was £2500 Manchester to Adelaide and we asked about any hidden or surprise charges and they said all that was to be added was any defumigation charges at the landing port, delivery within thirty miles, unpacking, removal of all rubish, I also asked about storage and they give 30 days free on this side and then start charging but they say its cheaper to store this side (maybe), thats for a 20 ft container also they said we can chop and change items as long as it fits in and doesn`t need loads of packing, they seem OK.
There are similar Q`s & A`s previously
Hope this is of some help

Sarah

Just to recap the extra costs are only for the defumigation and not delivery, unpacking, etc.

Insurance. Check the small print esp. for exclusions. I seem to remember a get out clause on marine insurance whereby each owner of the cargo on the ship is liable for their part of any salvage costs.

eg, if your goods are 0.1% of the value of the total cargo, and the ship gets into trouble and is salvaged for a cost of 10million, then you are liable for 10000.00

Nice....

Also look at any max. value of single items, coverage for pairs/sets (eg break one of a pair/set of things, you get cost of replacing pair/set), mould/vermin/fungus exclusions - the list goes on and on.

Oh, and dont under insure!
