Ok, I am curious....after reading the weetabix thread, I am wondering which people prefer??
Since coming to the UK, i have found myself constantly comparing things like Bisto against Gravox, Walkers against Smiths, Hellmans against Praise etc...

Tim Tams are much better than Penguins. Smiths are a very good substitute for Walkers. Gravy? make your own...

Sorry, taking a while to adjust to Aussie life - I'm still a penguin girl - (will this affect my visa application?) - though I highly reccommend sucking tea through the centre of a tim tam, yum! mm

Definitely Tim Tams for me, but the question has to be - Which ones?
There are so many to choose from:
Original
Chewy Caramel
Mocha
Double Coat
Classic Dark Chocolate
Hazelnut
White Chocolate
Chewy Choc Fudge
Tia Maria

Do you keep them in the fridge? They're great cold.

Have you tried the Kahlua Slices as well? They do taste like Kahlua but in a really weird kind of way.
They'd probably taste nicer if they were melted in some milk

As for the penguin/tim tam discussion. I'm not keen on Tim Tams and in the UK I was into those Club biscuits with raisons in them - same kind of level snack, I guess. The choc on the Penguins tasted a bit too fake for me. When I was a kid, I loved Penguins.

Tea??? What a waste of a good biscuit....
Try sucking Baileys through them.....now that is MmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmOr...try getting a chocolate teddy bear and bite off one ear and then the opposite foot....then suck through any liquer you like....A Drunken Teddy...
Its funny, when I first arrived in UK....I was so disappointed with the alternatives here....I mean...what is with jelly cubes?? Gravy granuels?? But after being here for 3 1/2 years, I have got used to them.....
I had some friends from Oz come over to visit just after Easter and they bought over a few of my fav's from home, like Gravox...and I had lost the taste for it...
Now when I go home I am gonna have to get used to stuff all over again...

I know exactly how you feel. I lived in the UK for 10 years and got used to all the english equivalents of everything, and it's taken me a while to get used to all the Oz versions of everything again.
The only thing I really miss, more than anything else, is Boots. There just doesn't seem to be an equivalent of it. I know some of the big pharmacies have a good range of stuff, but nothing beats walking into Boots knowing you can buy everything you need to make you look and feel great!!
Saying that, I've now got used to the taste again of Cherry Ripes, BBQ Shapes, Violet Crumbles, White Knights, Chokitos, Chicos.....etc etc!!
Regards

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this already but you can now buy TimTams in Tesco, just for all of you that want to get into the Aussie way of doing things before you head downunder!
Don't think they do the Tia Maria ones though!
