After just watching the program on the mis-selling of self certified mortgages I would suggest there is going to be one hell of a drop in house prices soon :scared: :scared:

I didn't see it but I guess it was just more scaremongering about prices falling- again. The media have been saying this for 2 years now and I don't think it is going to happen because of a 1/4 % interest rise!!

A friend told me that it was about financial advisers encouraging shedloads of people to lie about their earnings to get bigger mortgages. This has been pointed out to the banks who should tighten up their rules and checks. The problem is that the programme claimed that there is a much larger than expected number of people doing this, and if they can't do it any more the market will have fewer new entrants and will collapse.

ummmm......didnt see the programme....but we are about to BUY a house! we hope to go out to oz in a couple of years, and in the mean time a good way of saving (instead of paying rent) for us is to buy our house cheap. offered us at about 20k, and we hope t sell it for about 3 times that much..!Its a council property, so we cant sell it for 3 years, but it would help us out financially.
downside is its a crap estate (not too bad neighbours at the mo).
