Many thanks.

Thats a bit like saying, London's CBD (say St Katherines Dock), compared to Kensington in london. Which would you choose out of those, because the geographical location, is much of a muchness, as far as this end is concerned.
Possibly the CBD, would have it over South Yarra, on location, whereas South Yarra would possibly have more amenitys (grocery shopping etc) than the City.
Out of interest, where is the Temporary Accom in the city ?
Plenty to see and do in both places, so whichever you choose you won't be disappointed.

We stayed in the CBD when we first arrived and thoroughly enjoyed being in the centre. have passed through South yarra it has a good shopping centre and has lots of upmarket bistros and shops, but personally I would choose the CBD, but I suppose it depends on where the temp accom is.
good luck

What are you priorities? Have you got children? Will schools be a factor to you? Post your requirements/preferences here and see if people can help you further.

But that's all personal choice.

However, I do love the beach, even in the winter - I lived by the sea for 39 years and miss it terribly!
