Thinking of Emigrating - Advice Needed.
Hello all - I wonder if any of you could help me.
I am seriously considering the possibility of living in Australia. I am 40 years old with a partner (We are not Married, so I imagine this may make a diference) and we have 2 children aged 11 and 15.
I havent the faintest idea how to go about the Emigration process, so I thought this would be a good place to start.
I am trained as a fitter/machinist so I have a trade, although I currently work as a technician in an electronics plant and recently gained a HNC in electrical and electronic engineering. I was hoping that my employment background would give me a bettr chance of gaining entry to the Country.
I Own my own home, and if I sold it I would probably have about £140,000 after paying off Our mortgage. I know that a certain amount of money is needed to get in.
I would really appreciate any advice as to how to go about Emigrating, and if in fact I would have any chance of getting in. I have heard there is a points system, but I am not sure how it works. I have left the information about myself as you can see, so maybe that will help you advise me.
Thanks a lot in advance - Den.

There's plenty of information on migration, don't expect to absorb all of it in a day.

Our first step was an on-line assessment with an emigration company. We passed the assessment. We then persued the application with an agent who we have found very helpful. Even if you don't choose to use them for the whole emigration process they may be able to guide you as to what would be your best options as there are various types of visas.
Good luck!
