Oi, you lot back on track

The newbies one isn't needed IMO. The meet up one is probably useful but I forget it's there, therefore I'm obviously a miserable so and so and it is irrelevant to me if it's there or not.

There are obviously two different points of view to the updates one. If you are like Wendy and here all the time you don't need a special forum for them and I think we probably do like reading them. If, on the other hand, you can only get on here once a week or so, then it's useful. It depends on how much crap people are posting in general

Was I one of the first to speak to you iPom? How nice am I? Oh, was I useful??

Extremely useful, Pen. I was very worried and this place put my mind at rest immediately. Excellent.

Can we just keep the cheesy mooncups threads in the gross forum please.

I had to vote for about right.

I only ever look in
Forum/Lifestyle & Culture/Australia
and
Forum/Lifestyle & Culture/Australia/Barbie.

All the others are irrelevant to me and I never see them - did not even realise there were others until I read this - the two I look at are bookmarked.

Cheers,

Or do you only want to meet people in cyberspace, glad you don't have to mix with the freshers or don't care what happened to that person you used to chat to 12 months ago?
Yes, too many.

I tend to only look at the Lifestyle and Culture forum and don't bother with much else. I find it a little annoying when threads get moved (which wouldn't be necessary with fewer forums) eg from L & C to The Barbie and often scratch my head as to why something isn't lifestyle and culture. Let's face it, what do people usually talk about around the Barbie - lifestyle and culture.

If this is a democratic forum which is responsive to its 'customers needs' then the approx 2/3 of the poll currently voting for too many will see some action from Sue to reduce the plethora of forums.

Another suggestion would be to have more than one board for British Expats if that doesn't have any financial implications for the owners. I've set up a number of different boards, work and tennis related on Invision Free and they are free so there aren't any cost implications. i.e. instead of one board with oodles of sub-forums, have >1 board with fewer sub-forums. I realise this doesn't necessarily reduce the number of places to look, check and post but I just throw it in as a suggestion.

FWIW, I personally think the sub forums are a great idea! Saves having to trawl through hundreds of posts trying to find what you are after! I can now log in and go to exactly what I'm looking for depending on my mood, wether that be, winding someone up (moi?) in the Barbie or reading reports of what people have been upto and how they have settled into their new lives!

Some people seem to forget that The Barbie is also a sub-forum! It would appear that many of the regular posters seldom leave it, so sub-forums cant be all that bad, can they?

The Australia forum, as others have stated, is VERY, VERY popular...probably (don't quote me) attracting 1000's of unique visitors per day....it makes sense to 'sort' the different topics surely? You wouldn't tip up to a porn site (per example) and expect to find all the different genres of filth all jumbled in together now would you? NO! You would wish to be able to search by your particular 'kink', so to speak! The same applies to a busy forum such as BE......

I vote that the sub forums are a fantastic idea and look forward to seeing many more of them appear.

Have to also add, that I think the vote is affected by people voting what they 'think' others will want them to vote, especially the noobs, trying hard to impress. I actually find it very hard to understand why the vote so far is that their are too many????
