temporary accomodation
We have recently got our permanent residency visa, and are planning on moving to Melbourne. As we don't know anybody there we are trying to work out where we should stay when we first arrive to use as a base whilst trying to sort out rented accommodation. We will only be needing accomodation for a few weeks, and don't want to spend any serious money on it. How have other people dealt with this?, or is it just us?

We'll be in a similar predicament when the time comes, but we thought we'd probably either rent a caravan or stay in a hostel for a couple of weeks until sorted out.
