Default Temporary 457 visa - how long does it take?

This has probably been asked before, and I have searched the forum and could not find anything specific on the tem visa. I did look at the austimeline.com website to get an idea, but I get the impression that this is for PR applications.

Can anyone advise how long it takes for a temp 457 sponsored by an OZ company? Would I be reasonable in thinking 4 - 6 weeks?

Sponsorship, 1066 Application, Medicals & X-rays are all in - so how long should I be waiting for?

Usually the 457 visa doesn't take too long, but it's impossible to be specific.

Make sure you are fully up to speed with all the issues and risks of the 457 visa:

I submitted my form just before Christmas and had the VISA early Jan. In all it probably took under 3 weeks, but I understand that this can vary considerably. You won't get a VISA per-se immediately either; I just have a an email confirmation from the DIMIA, and I have to get my passport stamped upon arrival....

Hope this helps.

You do get a visa, it's just that in most cases it's electronically shown until you arrive when you get the passport stamps.

If you have a non-ETA eligible passport it will have to be stamped beforehand. Also, as far as I know, if the sponsor is an offshore business.
