Temp 457 to PR
#1
Has anyone gone from a Temp 457 to a ENS PR?
If so please could you answer a few questions:
Did you use an agent?
Do you have to use an agent?
What did the process cost you?
How long did it take?
We've approached the agents that did our temp visa (though the company paid for that one) and they want $4000 and we just wanted some idea if that's the normal fee. We're not sure if the company will pay for this one or not, so we're exploring the options. Also how easy is it to do yourself?. Steve thinks that it'll be OK, but I'm worried that we'll get almost to the end and then find we've forgotten something and then have to start all over again. Is it a different process going from Temp to PR than going straight to PR? Also is it different for ESN PR than other sorts?
Sorry for all the questions, but hopefully someone will be able to help.
Thanks
Karen

See the thread at the top of the page! Really useful.
I believe it is recommended to use an agent - I am doing so!
My employer is paying.
It does seem straightforward enough using an agent! Can't comment on "not" using one for an ENS but I have "not" used one before for a non-ENS PR application and it was time consuming and as long as if you are organsised and can follow instructions clearly, it was easy enough.

The rules for ENS are difficult and complex. There is more to it than meets the eye with respect to getting the position approved (the first stage). I took the "this looks easy approach" and made a comprehensive application with the help of my company who supposedly knew what they were doing. I got into all kinds of a mess with the many awkward questions Dimia came back with.
In the end we got George Lombard to help us out and he saved the day. He was quoting law right left and centre back to dimia and dug us out of the pooh. Without him we'd have been refused without i doubt.
I would strongly reccomend using a good agent. Make sure they have extensive experience in ENS though as some don't. $4k sounds expensive to me.
But in summary there is no way ENS is a DIY visa and i'm sure some of the experts on here will back me up there. I know it's hard to spend the money now, but it's even harder to bodge it up and risk not being able to re apply....
Hope that helps
