Teenagers threaten my 11 year old in the park

What's the world coming to? a couple of teenagers threatened my 11 year old boy in the park and told him to give them his bike and chased him almost all the way home. :curse:

Looks like it's time to go back to martial arts classes.

He was a bit upset, I think it was his first incident of this type.

No way.

I know this is said all too often these days but this type of thing would NEVER happen in the UK.

Commiserations to your son Renth.

What time of day was it Renth? Not that it makes a difference.

So far my kids have experienced guns, knives, drugs, drink, rape all at the local park and I am supposed to live in a so called nice area. Little bastards are all over and when in gangs it is a wiser thing to hand over what they want, too many people being battered to death from cocky little gangs of bullys to make any item worth defending.

I hope your son is good now and will not let this get him down.

Cheers

thanks for that.

It was about 4pm.

Some further info, these 2 boys were talking to my wife and patting the dog and whispered "give us your bike" to my boy. He didn't tell mum at the time because he thought that they'd beat mum up if he "grassed". It was when he cycled off around the lake with his mate that they threatened him and chased him.

It's definitely time to get him back in to BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.)

That was going on here about 6 months ago, easily solved he now rides to school on a old bike we got from the dump shop

Anyway picked him up from high school last monday about 5.30 they do golf after school. While waiting out the front a kid rocks up on a scooter, passing out little zip lock sandwich bags and getting $50 notes from other kids in return.

Must admit to being a bit freaked about the youngest starting high school next jan, not quite sure hes ready for some of the shite that goes on there.

Ah now that just scares the crap out of me! Just what age are you supposed to start educating your kids about this stuff?? My daughter is 8 - I reckon I'd better start wising her up to it pretty soon. Theres some sick mother f***ers out there :curse:

I don't know what is supposed to be an Aussie dream life - I believe I have to take what ever is thrown at me and deal with it wherever I am. But I personally have no illusions left that we moved for a better life though happy enough for those that do - but that is life not Australia.

As for telling your kids about what the issues may be - I think it depends what they are allowed to do and at what age, you make the decisions as a parent to inform them of dangers if maybe they are coming home from school or clubs at any time on their own. But if they are not exposed then why disillusion them too early.

Cheers
