Default Teaching skills - what 'extras' (first aid? child protection?) are needed

Hello, this is my first thread, so thanks for reading it & helping me!

I am in the process of getting my skilled visa application in (about to send away the last of the paperwork!), but have heard that you may need additional 'skills' in order to teach in Australia - first aid & child protection courses? However, I can't find any information anywhere on what they are, when I can do them, how much they are likely to cost, etc!

Anything welcome - I am not sure where I want to live, so general or state specific information will be welcome & most gratefully recieved!

Thanks.

Thanks for the link to the discussion its a HUGE help - especially as I now know the terms for all of the courses! At least I can do a better Google search now!

The process is about what I expected - lots of paperwork, money & frustration! Sounds like I'm going to have to think about where I'm actually going to go so I can get things sorted!

Thanks again, C

Depends on your point situation....if you have enough I would head to nsw (120) if not Victoria and WA are currently sponsoring teachers for particular subjects

I have my 137 STNI visa, and VIT registration as a teacher (Victoria) I have no extras, I am sure that many of my UK quals will need re-doing in Oz. (Life-saving, first-aid etc!!
