Cool Teaching in Oz

I have an English degree and always intended training as a primary school teacher when I had got my own kids up to school age. We are now waiting to get to Oz and I just wondered if anyone can tell me if I will still be eligible to train over there. Will my degree be accepted and what training do you have to do there? I believe it is one year same as here but how much does this cost? Or do you get paid as in UK? Also, what are teaching salaries like over there and are jobs in short supply?:lecture:

A teacher registration board in each state will assess the suitability of your degree for teaching purposes. Presumably you would find out whether the degree is acceptable first before progressing with teacher training (usually a one year diploma of education). I can't advise you on fees. Have a look at these websites (Victorian bias I'm afraid but plenty of links to other states) for salaries, job opportunities, registration etc. Good luck!

Try a search in this and the immigration forum as well.
