I am a Secondary Teacher of English and would like to hear from anyone in a similar situation. There are not too many teachers on ex[ats are there? Any info re- teaching in Perth would be gratefully received.

Thanks

There are a few Teachers about! Myself, Oztennis, Larissa, Teach, Helinuk etc I think. Though most are still in the Uk at the moment.

I have got my Queensland registration through and am going to be spending tomorrow sorting out my resume. I am hoping to do a bit of supply work at my kid's school.

Bring all the documents with you that you send to NOOSR, you will need them all again to get your registration through, well I did anyway. I had to get them all certified, luckily there was a free Justice of the Peace at my library who did it.

Hi Kristine,

You will also need a copy of everything you sent to NOOSR for your main application. I didn't realise this at the beginning and only had one set done. Luckily we have a very nice solicitor who certified 3 lots for a tenner.
We are hoping to lodge by the end of the month. All being well with DIMIA, and they allow 3 attempts at contacting Andrew's ex wife as reasonable effort on our part, we may be out of here end of this year or early 05. Finger's crossed eh!
Best of Luck

I am a secondary school english teacher, i got my positive assessment from NOOSR and my skilled indep 136 visa is being sent off in the next few weeks. I am hoping to live and teach in Sydney. I spent a year on a working holiday visa in OZ in 98 and had a great time, can't wait to get back. I just hope my visa goes through ok. I plan to do supply teaching in Sydney for a while, just until i find a school i like. I agree with the last post, gets lots fo copies of everything to take to OZ, though i suppose you can just take your originals to show, good luck
cheers

Hi
I too am a teacher and although I'm in the uk still at the moment I hope to head to Adelaide in the next couple of months. Once I'm there I'll let you know anything that I find out if you want.

Hi all,
Another teacher or soon to be a teacher here. I graduated, as a mature student (40 in August) with a BSc hons in Computing 2 weeks ago and will be starting my SCITT PGCE in September. I am hoping to do supply work when we get to Perth but that won't be until 2006.

Kind Regards

Default Another teacher!!!

Hi

I am also a secondary teacher. However due to me being part time at the moment my husband is the main applicant.

We are waiting for his TRA assessment and then applying for STNI in Victoria.

I hope to teach there supply at first until hubby gets job.

Am I correct in saying that I only have to apply to Victoria to get my teaching qualifications past if I am not the main applicant???

Andrea

P.S Writing this instead of year 8 reports they can wait until tomorrow!!!!

Good luck with the app.

Hi,
I am a primary school teacher currently doing supply teaching in Cairns. I had to register with Queensland Board of Teaching Registration when I got here, which took almost a month. Then I registered with Queensland Education to work in the state schools and the Catholic Education Services to work in the Catholic schools!
As well as all those forms you need for NOOSA you should bring a Statement of Service from your previous school, which should have the specific dates you worked there, the hours you worked per.week, whether it was full/part-time and if you have taken any leave. This was just something extra that I needed, they use it to work out your pay-scale.

Default lots of lovely teachers about!!

It's so nice to hear from people in a similair situation. I usually post on Poms in Perth site - which i love as we are hoping to move to Perth. The only down side to that, is there are no bloomin' teachers... which made me wonder why nobody seemed to be actually trying to teach in Oz.

We are applying through skilled sponsor as my uncle lives in Perth. My skills went off in April and i'm still waiting... patiently (NOT).

We have never ever been to Australia but my hubby has persuaded me to have a go as teaching will or should get us over there...

Thankyou to all teachers out there! and please keep in touch. Now - back to those bloody reports!

Hiya
I'm a trained primary teacher, but I haven't been back since I had my 2nd child, who is now 19 months old. I will probably go back to work when we are over there, in Perth. We're hoping for September time. To be honest, I'm quite enjoying being a mummy, plus this emigration lark has taken over... so I'm not missing teaching one bit!
All the best with your application, hope you lot aren't working too hard on those reports!
Larissa
