Smile Teaching in Melbourne

Could anyone give me a brief summary of how teaching posts are filled in Victoria?

I am a primary teacher and would like to know whether you apply directly to an advertised teaching job, get interviewed and then selected by the Headteacher?

Any other comments or advice on teaching in Melbourne?

Generally the Saturday Age newspaper advertises teaching positions at various times prior to and during the school terms .
There are quite a number of positions advertised weekly under the education section in the jobs liftout .
You could also do a search on Seek.com.au

Hi,

I've been teaching in Melbourne for nearly a year.

For all the advertised regional and metropolitan jobs, click here.

When you have seen a job you are interested in, you need to contact the school and request a position description and selection criteria. Be aware that many positions advertised already have incumbent candidates, so you need to ask if the advertised post is a new position.

The school will send you details and selection criteria around which you must base your application. If you are shortlisted, the school will call you for interview. Usually the Principal, Leading teacher and a School Council member will be on the panel.

Please send me a PM if you need any more info.
