Question Teacher Registration in NSW

A quick question on registering as a teacher in NSW, my wife is a primary school teacher in the UK.

Has anyone gone through the process in the last year of emigrating from the UK and registering as a teacher in NSW? In particular with regard to the Police Clearance Check, did you have to get this done yourself and send with the registration application documents (similar to when you applied for residency visa) or did Teach NSW get this done on your behalf?

Also did they put you on the same pay scale level in terms of number of years of teaching experience, or did they start you on a lower part of the scale compared to the UK?

Try this site - https://www.det.nsw.edu.au/index.htm - It is very comprehensive for teachers, their entry, qualifications etc. While I cannot give you direct advice I can tell you that NSW is suffering from a severe teaching shortage; this will become more obvious as the babyboomers start to retire in large numbers over the next 10 years.
