Tax returns
Hi all,
I am just curious as to how tax returns work as we just missed having to lodge one last year. I know you can claim a rebate on certain things, but what? My hubby is a chef and is full time salaried, but at the beginning he worked for about a month through an agency, so technically self employed. What exactly would we be able to claim back for.
I read on here that some people can claim a rebate of a couple of thousand. What could that possibly be for??
Any advice would be great. We are intending to use a specialist to lodge our first one, but just want to know if we should be keeping receipts for certain things.
Thanks
Emma

Re: Tax returns
You can claim for tools, work clothes, that type of thing.
I'd basically say keep receipts for absolutely anything you've bought that is work related.
Best thing is find a tax accountant and they'll do all the hard work of working out what you can and cant claim for. We had ours done, only $99 each which I didnt think was bad at all.
