Default Tax and returning to UK

Hope someone can help

My husband has returned to the UK. He was on a 457 which has been cancelled.

He has tried to claim Tax back and has received only a very small amount, around $200. I was under the impression that he could receive back quite a large amount as he was a temporary resident and had been paying income tax for 2 years.

Any advice/info would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Louise

Temporary residents still have to pay Australia Income Tax.

Only with full income details, and amounts of tax paid, would anyone be able to advise you correctly. And this would only apply for any 'overpayments' of normal tax during the year.

A tax agent may be your best bet.

He should be able to claim his super contributions back though.

Thanks very much for your reply.

He has claimed back the super already. Will contact a tax consultant.
